My first port of call was to select an army. This was easy as when you think about the contents of peoples bits boxes, not to mention your own. Space Marines!! Everyone has the bits coming out of their ears!!
When i was single i spanked a fair bit of money on GW and FW products, and usually it was compulsive so i had a pretty extensive bits box, not to mention unfinished projects. These unfinished projects have to be dealt with, and you need to be ruthless and ask yourself "am i really going to paint it?" Be honest here, i was and i feel i will reap the benefits.
These are the unfinished projects i dug out:
- FW orc bust (broken) £30

- Daemon prince (Converted with raptor packs instead of wings) Not sold yet

Then once i had fixed and cleaned it was ebay time!! The prices highlighted are the auctions final bids.
Thats £144.33 in the paypal account next stage is to utilise the bits i havn't sold that were useful enough to make part squads out of.
PART 2
Now i got a little bit of cash from ebay i had to decide what i didn't want to sell that was useful to my build.
I need tac squads, that i couldn't avoid that was definitely going to be an ebay job. I had a lot of left over terminators as my last army project was a Dark Angel one so i had a substantial Deathwing section and about 4 squads unpainted. One squad i sold and a second will be aswell soon, so i used the remaining 2 for my project (they were each a terminator short). But i had missing parts, the odd pair of lightening claws and storm shield arms, these would be obtained via bits sites. I also bought the thunder hammer dude from space hulk ages ago when they were £8 so i removed the Blood Angel iconography ready for red scorpion brass etch.
Once i got on ebay i bought as cheap as i could. This is what i got:
- Tac squad (new box) £14.50
- Drop pod (new box) £17.50
- 10 FW Red scorpion shoulder pads £6.50
- Scouts £8.99
- Commander Culln £13.00
- Tac squad (new box) £11.17
- Tac squad (new box) £14.00
- 10 FW Red scorpion pads £6.00
I also found a half finished rhino buried in an old battle force box. So after the first two weeks of setting out i had 3 troops choices, 2 dedicated transports and 1 HQ. The retail for the above bits is £105.50 not including FW postage rapeing that i saved. Ebay total £71.66 saving £33.84 over the retail price.
This now left £72.67 in the paypal, remembering this money was generated out of existing bits i havnt cut into any of my pay packet, so the wife is very happy about this. The bits for the terminators came to £4.20 to complete a few of the models. Now they just need Red scorpion pads but i have yet to see any on ebay so will likely have to spring for them at retail price.
Also over a year ago i purchased the Caestus assault ram and it was originally for my Dark Angels but as ive sold that army it seemed a good idea to throw this in with this project. I know i still paid full price but i was over a year ago and feels like i hasnt hit me.
Army total is now 3 troops, 1 HQ, 1 Elite, 2 Dedicated transports and 1 Fast attack.
Total paid so far £75.86
Part 2.5
Looking at Culln and decided the model didnt look as commanding as his picture on the imperial armour book does so i made this with a Huron body.
Once ive gained some scorpion icons i will be filing off the skull on the icon and replacing it with appropriate symbols.
PART 3
Ok guys i've really torn my bits box to pieces and i have more bits sold on ebay. Mainly tau bits from a battleforce box and they went as follows:

Now ive updated the bought list in the first part with the extra tac squad giving me a total of £89.86 paid so far with £140.67 left. So far things are looking up, I have more space in my hobby area and only one project littering the place! I also have a fun army list i want to aim for now as i had a Dark Angel army before the errata and was some what restricted from all the cool stuff vanilla guys could have.
