Dread knight conversion

Ok so chris' Grey knight commission has 2 DKs in it, both equiped with hammers so me being me i cant have two models that look alike so i got a little bit creative with this ones C/C weapon.  And Bigger IS better!! UBER HALBERD!!!! This will serve quite nicely as a 'counts as' hammer.

Just for the watchers info the knee and hip joints have been cut and repositioned so the model is striding forwards yet still remains anatomically correct as opposed to the straight legged running versions we have been witnessing. Plus the rear foot has had the toes cut and dropped so they are behaving according to gravity.  The hand grabbing the column will have a couple of fingers sculpted where they are missing.

The other DK is nearly completed and the first strike squad is almost done too, along with a Rhino/razorback.

Thanks for looking again.

Slime/Gore effects.

1.        This technique will give you a good base for making slime, ooze or thick fresh or brackish blood.  You will need a palette of some sort (I use a white bathroom tile), the colour you want the liquid to be and a tooth pick or similar tool. Finally you will need to use this glue from UHU.  If you use another that works please post up as im willing to try new things.
1.
With the UHU glue put a small amount on the palette; small amounts will help getting the glue to the correct consistency for making gooey strings.
Take the colour(s) you want to use.  I usually use Tamiya clear red for fresh arterial blood, and Tamiya clear smoke for the plague marine i am demonstrating on.  But remember you can experiment with any colour you want!
Mix them with the glue on the palette with your tooth pick or similar tool. You will notice the mixture will be getting tacky in under a minute or so if not its just a question of waiting a little.
Have your  finished model ready. It should be fully painted with its final coat of varnish for protection already done.  With your tooth pick and an amount of the coloured glue on the end touch it on a point on the model you want the slime string attached to.  Then slowly pull it towards the point you want it to end.  This will take practice to get a feel for when the glue is at its optimum consistency to achieve the look you want, but it wont take long for you to get the hang of it.

This will take a bit of practice but you will soon be doing blood, slime and drool on all your minis giving them that extra real look.  Here are a few finished examples for you.

Hope this helps guys. Thanks for looking.

Grey Knight HQ

So here is the first step on the blog so the logical move would be to show the HQ choice.
The customers choice for his army was Mordrak, so i suggested using Hector Rex from Forgeworld as a basis for the model. This meant all i had to do was to change the sword for a thunder hammer and the shield for a storm bolter. So here is the first pictures with a little pinning and green stuff i got him looking pretty good i think? Let me know.

I will write separate blogs on pinning and using green stuff with pictures at a later date as commission deadlines have to be kept im afraid.  More pictures of the rest of the army will follow soon enough!
